Iis 5 FPSE to iis 6 webdav migration
Hi,
I have to migrate multiple websites from a windows 2000 server running iis 5 and front page server extensions to a windows 2003 64-bit server with iis 6 and webdav. Which one is the best way to accomplish the migration: publishing the websites using SharePoint designer from the first server to the second, using IIS Migration tool (iismt.exe) or using IIS Export Utility? Thank you in advance |

Did you find your answer to this? Not sure if this will be much help, but remember, IIS 6 brings into play Worker Process Isolation; so a simple export from IIS 5 probably WON'T work.
You can, however run IIS 6 in 'IIS 5 isolation mode' (so IIS will act like IIS 5) until you can make the needed changes to the application. This is done under the 'Web Sites' properties in the 'Services' tab; right click the 'Web Sites' folder in IIS; not the individual website(s) as this is an all or nothing item in IIS 6... Here is a visual link: IIS 6 Application Isolation
