IIS 6.0 multiple domains and DNS
Hi
So, I'am not sure if this thread would be better in the "DNS-Forum" Anyway, here is my problem: We have a server with multiple sites (domains) .com, .ch, .de on one IP. Everything worked great until I wanted to add .es. We registered the .es domain pointed it to our main-domain .com (like .fr which works perfectly) I added a new website called www.mydomain.es in IIS with the host-header value "www.mydomain.es" (no IP specified). Everything else default. Then I created a "forward lookup zone" (name is "mydomain.es" with the windows-dns-manager with the following values: Quote:
So, I thought now it would work (nope it doesnt)I tried to restart iis and dns-server, didnt help. Everytime I call www.mydomain.es in the browser, I see our main-page www.mydomain.com. I'm confused because I "copied" our .fr domain which works. Hope you can help me ![]() |

I'm only guessing, I think the solution to your problem is found somewhere in the DNS world, not the IIS world.
But I could easily be wrong ![]()

Maybe, like I said im not sure and I have little knowledge about the whole iis and dns stuff :-/
I have researched a bit and found out that .es-domains are special. You can't update your name-servers etc. (see here: http://www.united-domains.de/es-domain/?SESSID=8534d30b0ce5be62becce904e6ddd18) So they told me to use a so called a-entry. I did that... nothing ![]() If make a whois-request the mydomain.es has the correct a IP (the one of our server). That means, it actually comes to our server but the server "doesnt know" what to do with it. Any further help is very appreciated ![]() |

whois doesn't show the IP of your webserver, just the IP of the nameservers for your domain. Try using a tool like nslookup to determine the actual IP for your domain name.
