IIS not displaying my site images and formatting lost

    Hi,

My iis asp.net website stopped working the other day. When i typed in the ip address 192.128.1.66 no page would display it just timed out. (I do not know why that ip address was used but in the iis settings it was displayed in the bindings section.)

I had to reinstall IIS to get the site working but now the images do not display and the formatting has been lost all text in now in times roman and not what it used to be.

The bindings sections now displays no ip address and to acces the site i just go to localhost not an ip address.

Not sure why it stopped working in the first place or why its lost the formatting.

    Any ideas, many thanks,

    Adam

Did you also reinstall all your web files including any image files?

You can use something like the web developer add-on in firefox to inspect your web pages and make sure all the proper css, image and script files get loaded properly.

no i just went into windows settings and turned off IIS and its functions restarted the pc then turned IIS back on again. This got the site working but without the formatting and images.

I will try fire fox web dev and see what it says.

    Thanks,

I have loaded up the page and using web dev firefox i have clicked view CSS and it shows

    http://localhost/

and no style sheet information is shown so i am assuming the css is not loading.

I have checked inetpub/images/stylesheet.css is there.

Any ideas what to check next?

    Thanks,

No images and css on iss site

Following from my other post i have done more tests and have more info.

When i go to http://localhost/ my site loads fine and everything works just css is not being read and images are not loading.

if i navigate to http://localhost/images/test.jpg a know image it will not load the screen just shows http://localhost/images/test.jpg

If i navigate to http://localhost/index.aspx the site loads and works

If i navigate to http://localhost/test.jpg the image will not load

Topics merged. Don't start new threads for existing questions.

It sounds like you haven't recreated the necessary virtual directories, or you've aimed them to the wrong disk location.
