IIS doesnt start after getting rid of the spyware problem
Hi,
I recently had a problem with spyware. I was able to get rid of it through help from some kind folks of this forum but I have a new problem. My IIS will not run. I have tried iisreset with no luck. It reports that is stops the server but fails to start the server. It reports "Restart attempt failed" and "IIS Admin Service is disabled".
Checking the System log says that IIS Admin service terminated with the following error - "Invalid data".Also the SMTP and WWW service depending on this wont start due to this.Trying to access IIS from MMC asks me for username and password.
And before the spyware problem my IIS was working fine and never prompted me for a password.I am running XP SP2 on a Acer notebook. Please help me how to get rid of this problem and get my IIS and webapps running.

You can try re-installing IIS, but if it doesn't help apparently you didn't get rid of all the crud on the computer, in which case your best choice is to reformat and reinstall windows.

Visual studio reinstallation needed?
Thanks for ur suggestion.Just a small clarification.I have Visual studio.Net installed on my machine. Do i have to uninstall that and reinstall it after IIS reinstallation or just leave it as it is?

I don't know, but I doubt re-installing IIS would affect VS.net

Make sure you've backed up all your IIS configurations before re-installing, or you'll have a chore to recreate all your websites.

Thanks for ur help.Uninstalling and reinstalling IIS solved the problem
