IIS FTP using Smart FTP
Im trying to figure out how use the FTP for my IIS server using SmartFTP. Im not sure how to go about setting this up as far as what I would put for username and password and how I would set that up. So Im just looking for some tips or a good tutorial somewhere about how I could do this. I found some on google about setting up ftp but thats about as far as they go. Thanks!

Sorry, I have never used IIS FTP. Maybe someone who knows can jump in. There are some decent IIS sites, I think one is www.issfaqs.com or something similar.

I'm not looking at IIS right now, so I might leave out a few details until later tonight when I look at my setup.
1. The username and passwords that IIS FTP uses are the accounts for your machine. I don't believe you can just make up users inside IIS, because it uses the windows users as an authentication type. (if you want to add other users, you should look at something like servu-ftp). 2. You should have a root directory set aside for your ftp to keep it seperate from your other files. 3. Inside IIS under FTP, you should be able to right click and go to new-virtual server (or alias). Basically, you give your site a name, then point it to above mentioned directory. 4. Inside that root directory, if you have folder names that match the user names, then when someone logs on they will default to that directory, without any extra setup. 5. You can also limit how far they can move around, can't recall offhand where that option is though. |

Not sure, havent messed with 2003 too much. I would think it would work the same, it just uses a newer version of IIS. can you ftp from the command prompt and get in?
