IIS in WINXP - not loading CSS or IMAGES

I am running IIS on a Win XP PRO install.

I cannot access any of my websites properly. They half load in the browser but hang because of the @import or <link rel> links to external stylesheets.

If I remove the stylesheet links the page loads fine (obviously looks rubbish). If I write all the styles at the top of a page inside the <style> tags then about 50% of the styles load in.

Bar the occasional 1 or two, images don't load either.

This is driving me nuts. I have searched all over ebay and found quite a few others with this problem but no solutions other than to uninstall XP and rooll back to Win2000.

Has anyone out there managed to get iis to correctly load in stylesheets in xp pro?

HELP!

Always worked fine for me. Using Apache now though, so I can't go through the settings for you...

Sounds like it could be a permissions problem... Are the files in a separate folder from the html? Does the folder have the correct permissions for everyone to access it?

I'm pretty ignorant about thing like this, so please excuse me if I say something stupid!

I have right clicked on the wwwroot folder and all subfolders and checked the settings in the security tab for each of the users and they are all set to "full control". Is this the same thing you mention?

Many thanks

Like I said, I can't remember exactly, but open the IIS snap-in, go to the properties page, and click on "security" [or something] and set the properties there...

Is the "IIS snap-in" the window via control panel > Administrative Tools?

Still no joy!

Really can't waste any more time on it anyway. I've just used easyPHP to install apache, php and MySQL in about 3 seconds flat so i'm a very happy bunny!

Thanks for the help wiggy!

Zone Alarm

I have been having a similar problem. I have found Zone Alarm to be at fault. Shutting it down allows the page to load properly. I'm going to investigate on settings to allow it to work without shutting down Zone Alarm.

I have been having the exact problem as well. Just recently in fact. And yes, Zone Alarm was at fault.

I just installed Apache 2.0. Now everything works great!

Besides that, TimV, have you found any settings to get IIS to play nice with Zone Alarm? (Just out of curiosity.)
