iis/.net configuration change, Production to Development server
I've been given the task of updating an Asp.Net web application we have hosted externally.
I've set up a local development environment (.Net Framework 1.1, MS SQL Server).
Now our local web app works when using pages that do not require login....
When I try to get to our login page (which uses SSL) I get the standard "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" DSN error page).
The config file mentions something about testing not having access to SSL ports and such, so I set SSL to false in the web.config file, nothing changed and I have no clue what to do.
ASPX pages that require logon work correctly and return "not logged in"... so only the secure area doesn't work. Could it be something to do with the redirecting from http:// to https://?
Are there any other differences in configuration in such development environments?
Thanks in advance.

make sure your development sql server allows mixed authentication and the proper sql users are present is my guess.

getting around security
I've tested the SQL server and it has no isses with communicating with the web app.
The problem is the SSL security (running through https://).
I want to be able to remove the code that actually references the use of security since this is not what I'm trying to test and I don't feel like installing certificates for SSL.
The main problem is figuring out how to use CSC to compile all of the .CS files into a dll (replacing the old one), therefore updating the code. I don't have VS.NET and using csc to compile many cs files (most in subdirectories) is not as easy as I thought. I get a lot of error 116 and 101, but it should work since these are the same files that were complied by our webhost.
If anyone knows how to compile using CSC, compiling many cs files into one dll. (csc /out:icoworks.dll /t:library /recurse:*.cs /nologo) is what I tried
I get the following errors:
"A namespace does not directly contain members such as fields or methods"
"The Namespace 'whatever' already contains a definition for 'something'"
Thanks in advance.
