Iis on xp
hi!
im trying to run iis on xp (sp2), after installation, i tried to access http://localhost, however, im being prompted for user name and password. at this point, this is a default install, i havent touched any config. what am i missing? thank you! joey |

Are you using firefox? If so there is some setting that enables firefox to use the windows authentication properly. Search the forums here I seem to recall this question has shown up in the past. You could add the IUSR_comptuername user to the permissions for the web root.

Under the directory security tab of your virtual directory within IIS, click edit under authentication and access control. Make sure that enable anonymous access is enabled and that the account has proper access rights to the folder the virtual directory is pointing to.
