Thumbs up IIS on XPPro on LAN - Mgt via MMC only? & How navigate to IIS server? RESOLVED

Once installed, Start/Programs said "new programs installed" msg but nothing highlighted for access. So I went to MMC. Is something better installed I haven't found?

Also, I have a virtualdir on IIS XPPro machine & can't find it via LAN. I tried <LAN IP> and <LAN IP/VirtualDir/index.htm>. Neither got me there.

While in MMC w/IIS snap-in loaded - I did look at "Default Web Site" Properties / "Web Site" tab / IP Address - the Default was "All Unassigned" but drop down did have host machine's IP address in list - chose that, Applied - No Help. Thank you in advance.

Solved my issue on access to iis server pages over LAN... The firewall on the server machine didn't have port 80 allowed. (Thanks for the tip Doug) So I allowed it and changed its scope to be my subnet only for security in dev/testing. You'd think that IIS install would check & prompt to open port 80 if closed in the firewall since it's integral to operation...

Am able to navigate to iis page(s) via LAN ip address of the server machine. Don't know of any other way.

IIS works just fine if port 80 is closed on the firewall, it just can't be accessed from a remote computer on the network if the firewall blocks traffic. IIS doesn't (and shouldn't) mess with any network settings, that's up to the computer system administrator.
