IIS Reinstallation Problem
Hi everybody,
I installed the IIS on the Windows XP Pro. with SP2. It went fine. It even worked. Then, I thought of upgrading the IIS 5.1 to 6.0. So, I uninstalled it. Then, I came to know that IIS 6.0 cannot be downloaded and can be only installed from the Add/remove in the Control Panel. So, if i had to upgrade the I had to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 2003 Server or some thing. Too late, I again tried to install the IIS5.1 thr the Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs. When I select the IIS entry and click next, it goes fine. But the IIS ico in the Administrative Tools does not appear. I have this several times with various permutations and combinations like thr the Installation CD thr the different account etc... but no use. I need help... Thanks in advance!

Are you a local administrator user when you're re-installing?
I've seen posts from some who have difficulties installing IIS from an XP CD that is not at the same SP level as the system. I don't recall the solutions though, try searching the forum.
