IIS Resources
Good afternoon all-
BRAND BRAND new to IIS and was looking for some IIS tutorials that are more down to earth. Most of the ones I have found are geared towards persons who have been IIS admins since IIS came out. Thanks in advance for helping me learn... P.S. Even my MCSE books are two steps forward of where I need to begin...

Do you have any specific questions?
If you have access to a computer running IIS, start by opening a web browser to http://localhost on that computer. A default IIS installation will give you a page that will link you to the online documentation for IIS.

Just general setup tutorials (adding php, running SSH/SSL), security tutorials, etc. I have extensive experience with another web server, Abyss, but have out grown the use of the open source version.
I just 'inherited' an older server box with a fresh install of Windows 2000 Server. (Funny, a box running dual 733mhz P3's is considered outdated now). I have Googled and searched to my wits end and was hoping someone could point out a few solid links so I could learn first, and ask my collected questions later... |

First, adding php and running SSH are not IIS issues. The php website has a how-to on installing php on an IIS server, and packages like cygwin can give you a ssh server on windows, which has nothing at all to do with IIS.
I'd start by getting familiar with the IIS documentation in the online msdn library at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library then look in the Web Development section. |
