IIS username and Password
Hi people,
I currently installed IIS5, however when i typed in http://localhost to test my installation, i was prompted to enter my username and password. What username and password should i enter?

A username that's valid on the web server, with permissions to the root web files.

I prefer not to use the root web, only virtual directories. Virtual directories will get the proper permission settings when you create them.

If you wanted, you could try adding the IUSR_computername user account to the permissions of the web root files.

check network setup
did you setup your your machine on network properly? try running Network Setup Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Setup Wizard.

The op is trying to use IIS from the IIS computer, network settings would not affect http://localhost
