IIS Virtual Directory through NAS drive

Hi

I am trying to set up my virtual directories in IIS to use files from a NAS drive. I have use the UNC path to the folder where the files sit but I still get the red error icon.

I am pretty sure that it is due to the username and password which is needed but I do not need a username and password to access the files on my NAS and it won't let me set a blank for these options.

Has anyone any ideas as to what I can do?

Thanks
Bob

Hi manjiot,

you should start a new trend instead of just tagging on to an un-related one.

Firstly how did you configure it if you cant find the applet? It should be "Internet services Manager". When you say above "configured IIS service" do you actually mean install it?

If there were no error messages & everthing installed ok, it should have created the icon in administrative tools for you.

Try doing the following.

Press the Start butten and select "Run". When the Run box appears type in "mmc" and press enter. Select the console menu, and select "add/Remove snap in". On the window that appears click the "add" button. On the window that appears, scroll down the list and select "Internet Information Services" and click the "add" button. Click "close" and then ok. This is the same applet that you would get normally through administrative tools. If it's not in the list it maynot be installed properly. Go to add/remove programs and remove it from there, reboot and re-install it.

Hope this helps.
Displeaser
