IIS won't process server side includes

MS server 2003, IIS 6.0

I'm receiving an error when trying to process a whole lot of extensions. shtm, shtml, asp, asa, cer... a whole range of extensions come up with the same error:
The page cannot be found...

...HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

see it for yourself :

All the mappings are the same as per default. The page just contains dummy information which really should work.

I have tried the extensions in other subdomains and they also receive the same error. Some extensions, html, htm and php work fine. The default page is index.shtm, but I've removed that from the list and it doesn't make a difference.

I'm relatively n00b, so any suggestions are welcome.

Check the IIS configuration, I know you need to explicitly enable asp on IIS6, and maybe the other extensions you're having problems with need something set in the IIS management console.
