Have a Win 2K Server with IIS 6
My problem is that IIS is not displaying any of the files in the explorer box. Also on the FTP when a client comes in it is not being displaying the Folder Content. The files can be displayed on the HTTP side but not on the FTP side. This is the strangest thing I have seen... Any help would be amazing.. Thanks in advance ~ if more info is needed please let me know I will post ASAP John |

Can you explain with a bit more precision? I don't understand what you're saying.

I'm a little curious to know how you managed to get a copy of IIS6 for windows 2000 anyway.
According to the MS IIS download site, it still requires server 2003 run, with the possibility to install the IIS6 remote management tool in XP. I'd be a little surprised if it was released to the public for use in windows 2000 and not yet shown up in my administrative updates or in any MS corresponance. |

Sorry it is IIS 5 ~ was typing to fast for my own good.. lol
Ok but in IIS when I click on any of the FTP Sites The window on the other side does not display anything. But if I go to the HTTP counter part it will display the folders/files. I tried it at home and it shows all the content... So that might be something on the client side stopping it.. But why would IIS not display that content on the FTP site but on the HTTP site? |

Ok, so you're talking about actually viewing the files in the browser?
It's a security feature if I understand what you're describing. Your http sites shouldn't be showing either. Sounds like you have ftp indexing disabled but http indexing is enabled. If you had ftp indexing enabled, it would be pretty easy for someone to browse your entire docroot and grab passwords or whatever they like. You really should disable it in http as well. If you really need to index a directory, there are php and asp scripts that will do that on a per directory basis. If you want to allow anonymous ftp access or directory browsing/indexing, then set your ftp root somewhere else from your http root. |

Thanks for the info
![]() I got upkeep job at this place, after the system admin left and trying to pick up the pieces at time. This just happens to be one of them. I will take a look at disabling HTTP indexing in IIS. Thanks for the info. |
