I got Windows 2003 running with II6 and I have another Windows 2003 Domain Controller running Active Directory. The domain name is private and only exists inside my network. The PDC is also the main File Server, for now at least.
The problem is I can't seem to figure out how to configure proper authentication from IIS to the File Share. Currently I'm using ONLY NTLMv2 for File Sharing, and have the Authenticated Users group allowed read access to the web directory on the File Share. Also have NTFS permissions allowed on the Authenticated User so that group can read and list files and directories. On the IIS side I'm using the local iusr account. But I STILL get asked for username and password when I go to my site. When I enter my FQDN username and then password, I get the following error: "The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted" Can someone help me out? Best hope I "almost" had was a doc from MS about how to configure IIS6 with UNC path, but the MS link is no longer at the URL I was given....still looking for it |

I don't know IIS6, but previous versions of IIS used a local computer account. Perhaps you need to change the IIS anonymous user account to a domain account, or make a clone account that has access to the 2nd machine.
Just guessing.

Glad you got it sorted. BTW, all other versions of IIS offered the documentation if you opened a browser on the IIS computer to http://localhost
