Install IIS on XP without CD
Can anyone recommend a way for me to install IIS under XP Pro without the cd or an image? Seems to be no download sites, although I understand it is free and part of XP Pro.
Do I only need that infocomm.dll, for example? I'm no pirate - I have a fully legal XP Pro system but the disks are in Europe and I am in Canada. Yes I know I should have made a hard disk copy. Thanks, ... Doug |

Try doing the install anyway. I don't recall needing the CD when I installed IIS on XP Pro (but it was over an hour ago so who knows ...

... IIS Quick install CD Free??
During install of windows components, Windows XP will prompt for a CD if additional files are required.
In this case, IIS requires files. And you do need the original (exact) CD. I too am interested in a work-around. Please post solutions to installing IIS without a CD (and without the original format/install of OS). |

Also curious if there is a solution to this.
-How exactly can a pirated cd not have the necessary files that a normal cd would have? |

I have a two licensces to windows XP;
one is Windows XP with SP 1 included on the CD and one is Windows XP (without SP 1 on the CD) My problem was that I attempted to install IIS on my laptop from the wrong CD - of course, the laptop knew that it needed a "special" SP 1 cd only, and it refused to work with the other CD. -> On all accounts, Down with pirates, long live developers, and let the software industry boom. Of course, This also has another clause, that means that Micro$oft and other companies must produce high quality, error free software. (But thats another story) |

Here is a solution to this:
Install IIS without CD here: http://www.math.hcmuns.edu.vn/Public/Soft/WinXPSP2/I386/ Just download files that installation wizard asks you right to your machine. This is a little bit annoying work but I didn't find other way around. |

I am sure it is not IIS 6, IIS 6 you can install very easily from Microsoft web site using executable file but it didn't work with my windows XP Professional. Most likely it is IIS 5. |

You can get a replacement cd from MS with proof of purchase. Otherwise, I don't have an answer.
