Is IIS actually needed on Windows Server 2003 to give my lessons online?
Hi friends,
I'm student community teacher and I want to give one of my lessons online this year, I will use MOODLE 1.6 for this .. and I will USE MY OWN COPMUTER AS A SERVER.. I'm using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and I have IIS on my machine.. and I have installed Xampp 1.5.3a for windows version..( contains php, mysql, perl, apache ) At first, Apache couldn't start and couldn't connect to localhost ... Because port 80 is filled with IIS For So, I had edit " httpd.conf " configuration file from Apache folder , and set the line " listen 80 " to " listen 9090 " At start Everything was fine , towards I have tried to set new Super user password for Mysql or when changing it :-( Everythings default port is 80 ,so no unit has defined 9090 :-( When I write command on console to change pass " mysqladmin -u root password mynewcar " , It says: ' connect to server "localhost" failed ' So what can I do now..?? Do I have to use IIS, for publishing my lesson content, on Windows Server 2003 ? Can I install only XAMPP for publishing, on Windows Server 2003 (without IIS) ? Waiting for your feedback Thanks for your convenience ,, Have a good work! If you have another web application server then you don't have to use IIS. If you're running into port conflicts with IIS, then kill the service.
