ISS and personal web manager ? cannot start?

ISS and personal web manager ? cannot start?
ok I decided to intall ISS on my win2000 machine so I can test my scripts etc cefore I upload them.

Anyway, It installed then when I go to the PWM is wont start, the start button is unavailable!


can anyone help? I've checked the microsoft website but cant find what I'm lookin for!

it says "your homepage is not available because "default document" is off, but I've got an index.html and tried an index.asp page in there but nothin's happening!



when I try http://localhost I just get a page cannot be displayed even when I've tried putting an index.html or default.html and htm in


I'm a real novice at this so can anyone help?

I always use the IIS service manager rather than the PWM.

You can easily start & stop a website using this MMC program.

The IIS service must be running, you can open Services from Administrative Tools and verify the WWW service is running.
