Localhost and that darn ROOT DIRECTORY
Hi,
I'm a web developer (using WinXP Pro) and I normally test my web sites locally on my IIS using a virtual directory (vd) for each project. example: If I'm working a site called "FergyTech" I will create a vd called "fergytech". So my production url is http://localhost/fergytech/. In my code (html, php, etc.) when ever I need to dynamically insert an object I use the '/' character to get to the root directory. This trick works fine on the final web server, but on my local server '/' takes me to http://localhost/ and ruins everything. Is it possible to setup my local machine to use the '/' character for VDs instead of the localhost root directory? I hope my question makes sense...

Not that I know.
If you can get W2000 server then you can set up multiple websites, which is a better development environment since it will duplicate the hosting company configuration much more closely.
