Localhost does not show in IE whereas Firefox works
HI All,

Here is my problem. I installed IIS at windows 2000 Pro. It always worked fine before.

But this time when i installed IIS complete with FTP and SMTP as well after new installation of OS. It does not display localhost page in Internet Explorer. After some days i installed Mozilla firefox 1.5 and tested localhost it asked me for a user name and password, I gave it the credentials which i use for windows login, and it showed the localhost page as it was set in IIS MMC, with default page, Home Directory etc.

Can anybody tell me why Firefox asked for username/password. And why IE is not asking for it, and also not showing page.

Because I cant use Firefox as it does not show my sliding menu in .js properly. Can anyone suggest a solution.

If you must use the root web folders for content, you could try adding the IUSR_computername user to the folder permissions.
