Thumbs down localhost problem

Hi all

I'm experiencing the problem displaying the index.htm in
c:\Inetpub\wwwroot from IE by http://localhost
It used to work few months ago but I haven't played with IIS
until today.

I looked at the event log, remove all the personal firewalls,
and run "aspnet_regiis /i" because MSVS.NET said that
the Web Server is not running ASP.NET 1.1.......
Nothing worked. IIS from Control Panel said it's running
and well.

Any other place I should look at? Is there a way to
find out which Web Server I'm running in my WinXP-Pro?

Thanks

Brute Force method of fixing the problem

After spending hours on fixing the IIS problem with no luck,
I decided to uninstall IIS components from Windows.
(goto control panel->Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows Components and select IIS).

After rebooting few times, then I re-installed the IIS with
all the extensions.

There, the problem solved. goto localhost from IE works now.

Sigh... Typical Microsft product way of fixing its problem.
!!!! REINSTALL IT !!!!!
