localhost works, IP does not
Hi,
For some reason I can access my website by typing URL, but when I type in URL I get a dialog that says connecting to myIP and asks for my user name and password........I am confused. I have anonymous access checked. Does anyone know what I can do to be able to access my website without any authentication? thanks a million in advance, lisa |

Look at the way you have configured IIS authentication in the IIS mmc snapin.

Look in Control Panel - Administrative Tools and open the Internet Information Server (the IIS mmc snapin). Review the properties settings for your server.
A default IIS installation by an administrator should not act the way you describe. If you put files directly in \InetPub\wwwroot or create a new virtual directory using the wizard you should not be prompted for authentication. |
