Needs id/password for full domain name
I have installed IIS 5 on windows 2000 Server. After installing I can access the url "http://<hostname>" but if I access "http://<hostname.domainname>" for example "http://abcd.xxx.com", then it asks for user id and password, and if I enter the system login id and password, then it works. Is there anyway in which I can stop this way of asking user id and password when I type the machine name with full domain name?

I suspect you are ending up at a different server when you use the full url.
does abcd.xxxx.com resolve to your web server?
