Pointing a domain name
Hi guys,
I have an IIS server setup on Windows XP Pro, and I am using a no-ip program to update my ip address anytime it changes. To access my site i use one of the address's supplied from no-ip (mysite.no-ip.info). I have then set up web forwarding on a domain name i bought to point to the mysite.no-ip.info address. Everyone everyone outside my network (i.e. on the internet) can see my site fine, all works good. But I cannot see my site if i go to my domain name. I can see it if i use the local network address. Is there a fix for this or is it normal. Im not also sure if they way ive got it set up is right by using dynamic dns? (couldnt think of a better way cos i dont have a static ip) Any ideas? |

To get it working within your local network, you need to add a new entry to your hosts file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) with the domain name you're using and the local IP address of your computer. You'll need to do this on each computer within your network which needs to access the site.

Or use some internal DNS server for name resolution on the LAN
