Problem configuring IIS

Hello,
I've installed IIS on my windows XP pro system, and the installation seemed to go fine. Ftp and web services have started correctly, and my sites are visible from the internet.

However, I cannot open the IIS snap-in in order to configure either the ftp or web services. When I try to run %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\iis.msc or %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\inetmgr.exe, a dialog with the following message appears:

Snap-in failed to initialize
Name:<unknown>
CLSID:{etc...}

From other posts, and from the microsoft kb, it appears that this problem has to do with certain files not being correctly registered. Has anyone had this or a similar problem? Does anyone know how to resolve this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
stanwad

I saw something similar once when I installed IIS but was logged on as a normal user not an Administrator.

I was logged in as a member of the Administrator group, but not as "Administrator". Would that still make a difference?

Thanks,
stanwad

Thumbs up

Ok, I reinstalled IIS as Administrator and the snap-in is now available.

Thanks,
stanwad
