Try this.

Add/Remove Program
Install IIS Again, and when it ask for the files point it to this folder
( Assuming that WinXP is installed in the C:\ Drive )
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386

Make sure that you have your WinXP Pro CD in the Drive, before your
Even start. So that once it finishes getting the Files from the folder
Above, it can get the rest of the files from the CD.

Hope this helps.

As a requirement for Visual Basic .Net, I have to install IIS on XP SP1. When I attempt to add IIS from the 'Windows Components Wizard', it asks me to insert the XP SP1 disc. Windows searches for infocomm.dll on the disc, but there is no such file there. - ( There is a file named infocomm.pdb.dll on the disc.)
I see your solution here, but in my case I don't seem to have a C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386 folder. ( In explorer, I have Tools|Options|View tab 'show hidden files & folders options on. )
Do you know where I can find the file infocomm.dll?

I tried to do a search for the file that you have listed here
And I cannot find nothing in my language.
If you are from: Russia (or) Jap. Or can read the language then take a look here

I am not sure what you will find, but give it a shot.
If all else fells,
Install Win2k SP3 and above. And then install IIS5.

A little bit of advice here.
Rather you run. Win2k or WinXP
You are only allowed "1 Domain" in them OP's
WinNT 4 Servers, can be bought over eBay. The same of Win2k Servers, for good prices.
Just make sure that you get them with "Client License Packs" included. (Not by them selves)

Good Luck

But this is a fact. As mentioned in a press releases
By Microsoft when SP1 was released.

Due to the demand of the new XP release. We had
To spead up production on the new Operating System.
And this caused some bugs to apear.

Sorry to be the carrier of Bad News their

Sorry carrzkiss, it's your opinion what a "lot of bugs" means. XP is as stable as W2K. In some cases there are bugs in both OS.

There are many more reasons not to use W2K than there are not to use XP.

Do not mean to ruffle no feathers here Doug.
XP is not as Stable as Win2k is. This is a Fact.
This is not an Opinion. Maybe one day XP will meet up with 2K.

Another Fact.
Borland Developers and Microsoft Developers
Prefer Win2k over XP for Developing software.
As the system is more Stable.
They then bring it over into XP to make sure that all
XP Visuals work as they should.

These are facts.
These are not Opinions.

P.S.
SP2 for XP has caused more problems then good things.

But hey.
If you like XP that is you. And no one can say any different.
It is your Opinion that XP is "Your" choosen OP.
Like Win2k is my choosen OP.

The above " p.s. " is Opinions. Your and Mine.
But the rest is "Fact"

Take care and hope that you have a Great Holiday Season.

Carrzkiss

Baloney.

I have no interest in continuing this discussion, it is going nowhere, but when you make definitive statements without any facts to back them up you are doing a disservice to readers of this forum.

Windows 2000 Pro is good. XP Pro is better, and as a developer you might want to build your apps knowing what they will look like in the currently shipping version of windows, not a superseded version.

There are can be some problems with SP2 on XP, usually related to the firewall becoming enabled by SP2. There are some known SP2 incompatibilities, lists are available on the MS website.

XP Home is not a suitable platform for application development, and won't run IIS. However IIS 5.1 is better than IIS5.0, and you need XP Pro to get IIS 5.1

If you have links to reputable studies that can support your claims feel free to post them.

iis_vbob055w.htm

Hi my friend,

I know what you feel, I got the same issue and wasted many days to solve that. The solution is quite simple.

When you check IIS to be installed, just be sure to go into details options and uncheck documentation item.

I hope this can help you.
