Problem with active directory, multiple applications requiring domain prefix

hi all,

I have an issue that is becoming very frusterating to myself and my users, and I am hoping to get some help on it. I am running on windows erver 2003 enterprise farm, regular domain controller etc. nothing fancy. I also run another box on the tree called "inside", which runs sharepoint portal server 2003. Whenever one of my users comes onto the site, it bring up the authentication box, however everytime they have to type in domain\user when ultimatly it would be better if they could just type their username, and it woul know what domain to look up. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Unfortunately there is no way to do this. Part of the pre-Windows 200 logon is to designate the domain. What it does my default is look at the PC that the user is on and set that as the domain if you don't designate one.

example

PC_NAME\USER_NAME

Does this help?

How can you designate one?
