Regarding installing IIS

Hi,

I am using Windows 2000 5.0.xxxx. My IIS Server has been removed from this machine by the recieving IT group, but my boss wants me to get it back on my machine. Am I able to do this using the installation disk? Is there another way that I can get a copy of IIS for placing it on my machine?

Also, once I have IIS on my machine, is it very difficult to configure it so that other people within my network can view asp.net pages functionally via their networked systems?

Thank you much,

IIS should be in the Add-Remove Programs, Add-Remove Windows Components.

Thanks Doug, I went ahead and installed the IIS Server from there.

If I may ask, where do I go from there?

I do not see any listing for IIS in my program list...

Mike

click start/programs/admininistrative tools/internet services manager
that will be the IIS server that you seek

Thanks, but I don't see "administrative tools" as an option on my program list or any sub-menu off from that, either...

Okay,

I have found it. I totally went by it the first couple of tries, so thanks for putting me on tract with location.

I suppose that I will now want to google for tutorials on using IIS Server (?).

Is it easy to administrate?

I have another question that might ring a bell with someone.

I used WebMatrix to create asp.net aspx files. I am able to run these files using the free WebMatrix server, but now that I have put the IIS Server component on my machine, I noticed that the Web Matrix compiler gives me the option to option the pages (in a browser), using either web matrix, or by "Creat an IIS Virtual Root"

When I choose the option to create an IIS Virtual root, the pages I have build are displayed as html, withot any of the textboxes, buttons, labels, or other server distributed objects that are programmed into the page.

Any approaches thought of where I can get the IIS to server up my aspx pages?
