Setting up site on shared folder; cant load site
Hello,
We are using IIS 5.0 on two W2K servers. I'm setting up a site on server-1 to point to a shared folder on server-2. with the host header pointing to server-1, i am able to view the website if it was in fact pointing to a local folder. however, since it is pointing to a share on server-2 (and connecting as the proper credentials), i keep getting prompted for a username and password when attempting to view the website (pointed to the share). i tried using the creds for server-2, no luck. pressing cancel gives me the 401.1. what could i be missing? thanks. |

IIS normally runs under a local user account, and that user won't have any permissions to the 2nd server. One workaround is to create a "clone" user account on the 2nd server with the same credentials, and grant the clone user permission to the shared folders. The webserver user account can then authenticate over the network to the 2nd server.
