SMTP config problems

I'll begin by describing my network:

- i have internal servers within a domain (some of them have IIS running on them)
- one of the servers is an Exchange 2000 box
- i have a linux firewall computer protecting the internal network from the Internet

Here's my problem:

I'm trying to configure SMTP in IIS (on a server other than the Exchange server) to be able to send outgoing mail using the Exchange server as the smarthost. I'm using CDONTS to generate the emails. I have no clue how to get it working.

The messages seem to be getting stuck in the queue.

Any help would be appreciated!

User Port 25 and give IP of Your Exchange server as smart host. Remember to put your IP in Square Brackets. []

just curious, what's socket pooling? I've tried putting Exchange IP in square brackets as the the smart host..but the messages stay in the queue. Am I forgetting something else?
