strange problem connecting to IIS servers
on my home network, the pc that is connected directly to the internet can access any website, yet all the other pcs that are connected to it via standard ICS cannot access any website hosted on a server running IIS. any other webserver software is fine, apache, yahoo mail server ANYTHING, is fine. just IIS servers, which as you can imagine means most of the web is inaccessible.
is there any property of IIS that could cause this? |

I don't think IIS is the cause of your problem.

i've been told this many a time
but the fact remains i can connect to ANY website or content hosted on ANYTHING other than IIS servers i suspect its some settings that my isp has BUT its obviously affecting IIS accesses. so the question remains ... what in IIS could cause this since its ONLY IIS that gives me the problem |

Maybe you have a virus on your computer.
IIS is just a webserver. As with other webservers, it identifies itself in the HTTP headers but otherwise serves up web pages the same way any other web server does. The problem (whatever it may be) is something at your end. |

i have confirmed multiple instances of this
theres not virus theres no malware ive written my own telnet client to check the goddamn thing and the html data just refuses to make its way to the pc the header is the only bit that does load the page data itself doesnt i invite you to test it in any way you wish ia remote connections(as long as its not msn messenger since that uses http server based software (which uses IIS) and therefore cannot be connected to) please believe me theres something fishy. its hard to convince people that its doing what its doing but it goddamn well is. theres another instance of this exact thing happening with the same isp and the same pc setup over 300 miles away from me i suspect its just not been picked up on before. heres a thread on the networking help forum ive had for ages you can see the checks that ive done on there but belive me its not the network im using or the pc im using. http://forums.devshed.com/t189046/s.html its just weird |

Your problem is something in your pc, nothing to do with the IIS webservers.
If you're running antivirus script blocking, disable it is another guess. |
