This is Driving me INSANE. 403's and 304's galore.
Batty batty batty. Nobody knows about it, and it seems like it's only happened to me. I've searched on google and many other IIS websites, not to mention Microsoft's support site and can't even find someone else having something LIKE this....
Here's the problem. Windows XP Pro SP1, latest Critical Updates and Patches on an AMDXP1800 (1.5Ghz) w/ 1024MB DDR RAM running IIS5.1 with PHP 4.3.6, ASP.NET w/ 1.1 Framework and Coldfusion MX 6.1 installed. I've reinstalled IIS and Coldfusion, but let me just get to the problem. If you can solve this, you will be my new god. When viewing a CFM page on IIS in MSIE6, I get random images that comes through, and some that don't (all images reside in the same directory). When I refresh the page, some images that DIDN'T come in, do, while others that did come in are now broken. If I right click on each broken image and select VIEW IMAGE, sure enough, the image pops into the screen. I've deleted my cache, cookies and temp files, and have since given up on MSIE 6 w/ IIS 5.1. I've been viewing my websites and testing them with Mozilla, which didn't have this problem; until now. Now Mozilla too randomly doesn't show images. This is driving me INSANE. I cannot develop with the server and/or browser acting so irratically. I've tried setting the cache to "CHECK AUTOMATICALLY", "CHECK ONCE PER SESSION", "NEVER CHECK", and everything in between. I tried creating and removing applications in the IIS manager. In the IIS manager, it shows CFDOCS with a stop sign and "ERROR" by it, stating that IIS cannot find the folder "cfdocs" located at C:\inetpub\wwwroot\cfdocs. I navigate to that directory, and SURE ENOUGH, the directory is sitting RIGHT THERE. Same name, same casing... It's like my system is possesed. I NEED to be able to run websites (especially with CFMX) and NOT have this image/cache problem. I checked the LOGFILES directory and it seems random images are getting 403 (Access Denied?) errors, while other images are gettin 304 (Not Modified) errors. I'm not gonna make this thread any longer. If you can get to me ASAP, I'd REALLY appreciate it. My ICQ UIN is 532367, and my MSN handle is Aegis Kleais™. My thanks to everyone in advance. Hopefully you guys can save me from this insanity.

It sounds like a CF issue to me.
Have you thoroughly tested with some straight asp pages? What does the browser view source show for links? Does the server event log have any clues?

See 818506
I had the same problem and escalated with Microsoft. Here is the article that describes the IE6 defect:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=818506 There is an IE patch available, but the only server-side fix is to disable keep-alives (which does impact users' response times). |
