    Username and password issue

    Dears ,

I am a complete newbie in this , I just configured IIS on my PC on Win XP professional SP2 and I set the authentication to Anonymous access and "Allow IIS to control password " , but I get a username and pass prompt when i try to access the server using "http://my IP address " in the browser . How can I solve this ??

I believe IIS normally is restricted from using the root of a website in a default installation. You could add the anonymous surfer user account, normalll IUSR_computername, to the security of the web directory. Or just create a virtual directory for your web and put your files there, IIS will assign the correct file permissions for the new virtual directory.
