Vhost in IIS?
Is there a way to host multiple sites off one domain in IIS 6.0?
I want to offer some friends to host off my old Duron box running Windows 2003 and they develop in Visual Studio so IIS support is necessary. |

What do you mean multiple sites off one domain?
You have host headers available, or you can set up independent web sites, or you can create multiple virtual directories.

Hi Doug,
Sorry that was a typo it should have read "multiple sites off one IP". In Apache I know you can set up vhosts to grab the domain and route the connection to the appropriate resource. Like my site www.domain1.com and my friends site www.domain2.com Both have been setup with type A pointers at my domain 24.xx.xx.xx at which I want to host the site off of. The IP is for my cable connection but I have a hefty 1.5mbit up and I will use the bandwidth limit feature in IIS to keep the site from enveloping my upstream. Is there a feature similar to Vhost in Apache inside of IIS and if so how can I set it up? Please pardon my ignorance as my experience in this field mostly lays in Apache. |

Well I googled around some more and finally followed this tutorial to set up headers.
http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index.html?/main/sbs-w2k-vir-server.html Thanks for the help!! I know now why IIS is taking off with a massive 26% of the market. |
