Newbie here... I want to host my website on the internet using dial-up connection and locally. Im using Win XP Pro and IIS. I dont know how to configure it. I also posted some pages on my Inetpub\wwwroot and was able to browse it, but others, locally, cant browse my .htm that calls .php pages. They can only view .htm. What should I do?
I also have a mail form and want to use my own smtp on sending email from my mail form. How should i configure it? Thanks!

Take a look around on www.iisfaq.com
You'll probably need some dynamic dns to host a website via dialup, and it won't be fast.
html pages can't "call" php pages if you're talking about included pages.

let say someone on the network wants to see my website and the index has an extension of .php, whenever he access it, ex. http://pc/index.php, a window pops and asking for password... though it he tries to access http://pc/index.htm, it works fine...

W2003 is the only way to get IIS6. Probably there is something in your PHP installation that needs to allow the IUSR_ account permission. If your web page tries to access a file that doesn't allow the anonymous IIS user account, a password box pops up.

Let's say not IIS 6, is it possible to get any version through download? I've already modified the "websites" and from there I allow IUSR_... to access all web pages. The problem is that viewer can only access the .HTM pages and not .php, .asp, etc.

There is no download for IIS as a separate product afaik.
your problem sounds like an execute permissions issue, review your settings in the IIS service manager and make sure that the folders holding the page(s) allow execute permissions. You cvan also verify that asp pages are mapped to the asp.dll filter in IIS service manager.
If you want php pages to execute, you will need to install php on your IIS server.

I've just just reinstalled my IIS to solve my problem. ANother question here: is it possible for me to host my website without using domain name? I have external IP but doesnt have any domain name. Is it possible for other to view my website using IP, http://203.222.039.12 (sample ip only) <- like that? Thanks!

Assuming you don't have port 80 blocked, you should be able to visit your web server from the internet by IP address.

I asked my friend to try but it seems he wasn't able to view it. Internally, we can see under construction page.

I don't mean to steal your thread but I am having some of the same issues on a smaller scale.
I have set up IIS and allow anonymous users however, when I try to access my ip address or a test page it give me the poppup username and password box. My question is, what should the default values of the username/passowrd inside the anonymous access part (ie: ISUR_ComputerName ?). The following is what mine is, and I still cannot seem to access my pages.
Any/All help appreciated
