    Unhappy CSS/Javascript Problem. Please help.

Hi All, I'm new here and I have a question about merging some CSS code into a single file. I can't seem to make it work correctly.

I'm a Business Analyst at my company and I'm trying to push them into the 21st century by making all of the job aids dynamic HTML based documents instead of static PDF files. So far the feedback has been positive, but now I'm stuck.

I'm using a .css sheet and a java script code to make the documents into collapsable and expandable decision trees. This part works awesome. But, sometimes the person using the document needs more information about the decision in order to know how to answer it. I've solved this problem by using the TITLE code to make a tooltip/mouseover. Here's where I'm stuck.

The mouse-over toooltip works fine. The only problem is that it only displays for 5 seconds. I know that this behavior is tied to the browser as one its intrinsic properties. We're all using the same browser, but I don't have admin rights to change this setting. I do know that I can use a java script and a .css sheet to change this behavior forcibly.

If you google "Nice Titles" and "Kryogenix" you'll see a page that demonstrates what effect I'm trying to achieve with my tool tip. (I would have posted the link directly, but I'm a new user and the system won't let me. ) I want it to display indefinitely as long as the mouse is over that word. I have been able to get the text to appear, but I have not been able to get the background to appear. I also have another problem; each time I do this it become a hyperlink that goes nowhere. I don't need a hyperlink. I just need to make it a tool-tip.

So, my long-winded question is how would I go about editing this simple .css or .js code to make this work as a tool-tip and not as a hyperlink? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Apologies. I was in a hurry. Yesterday it lost my entire post and I had to redo it. I tried reaching out to a moderator to see if they would be kind enough to move it for me, but apparently I don't have permission to message them. O_o
