Getting started with Java 3D development
I'm not a beginner to Java development nor even an absolute beginner to Java graphical design.
I've played around with Java-based OpenGL implementations, namely LWJGL, with limited success. Primarily because I feel that the OpenGL specification is very foreign to the Java-oriented mind. Also the LWJGL project/community itself is lacking in information for new users of OpenGL.
What I'm looking for at this point is a more native but still industry-relevant alternative to any Java library that uses OpenGL. I don't feel like it's efficient for me to train myself to use the foreign specification in Java while attempting to learn graphics development at the same time. I need a library originally created in and for Java.
Any suggestions, including details and personal use experiences, would be very much appreciated!

We used JOGL in my graphics course at university.
