how to use applet as client and jsp as server .. ?

i am trying to implement a live bidding module where the applet is the client ..

can someone tell me ..

1. good links to read more about this sort of implementation

2. when a button is clicked from within the applet, i would like to send some parameter from applet to jsp for processing , how can i do
that
