[newbie] how to start with java/jsp

Hum i install tomcat 4.1.12 on my serveur web (apache 2.0.43+php 4.2.3+MySQL 3.23.53) because i want to learn this technology.

All work fine between apache and tomcat with mod_jk.
i tested tomcat examples and i can go to tomcat admin and manager

but now i want to create my web-app but i didn't succeed.
i searched in doc but and i don't read english very well,
So if someone can explain to me how i can do it (web.xml, context ...etc) ...
