is it in Java an equivalent for Perl RegExp function?

*Nothing* is equivalent to Perl's regexp handing. :-)
Fortunately, you can access Perl functionality from Java using
Jakarta ORO

agreed, nothing beats perl's regex.. [ beeg fan of it ]

extra regular expression packages for java include:


http://jakarta.apache.org/regexp/
http://www.cacas.org/java/gnu/regexp/

i prefer the latter...

have not really looked at the regex in 1.4
