    Question how to get last time modified?


    Hello,

    I need to develop an application that questions a list of websites to find when they have been updated...

    Does anybody know how can i do this???

    If you're hosting the sites, you can use java.io.File.lastModified().

    It's rather more difficult if you're trying to get the last modified time of other people's sites. Short of saving the contents of the pages and comparing them for updates periodically, I can't think of anything to do that for you.

    What i want is to get it from other people sites!!!!

    Can you tell me how to do it or tell me another way of knowing the sites have been updated?

    I´ve made it work, but most of the times the last time modified header from HTTP protocol returns:
    Thu Jan 01 00:00:00 GMT 1970

    Can you tell me why is that, and if there is any solution!!!

    That is the date you get if you give a timestamp of "0". Therefore, depending on how you are getting this header, either something you are doing is causing it to be read as a date initialized with zero, or the web server is sending out a last-modified header with the value of zero.

    Note also that the last-modified header is not required to be sent out by web servers.
