Topic for a research paper on Java

Hey, I'm new to DevShed seems like a pretty active forum so I decided to join. I'm in my first Java class and we need to come up with a topic to research pertaining to Java. I was going to do something like C# GUI VS. Java GUI comparing/explaining pros and cons. I'm not sure if that's really what hes looking for so I was going to see if you guys had any other area of Java that is interesting and in the realm of a beginner to research.
