    How web browsers use java

    Hi, as you might guess before long I don't know java.
    I'm writing a program in C and want it to get html links from java scripted web pages. I grew sick and tired of the tools used to mirror the web (including wget.) I wanted something to parse java and I wanted to have more control over what I mirrored (which is good for both me and the sites I mirror because I download less.) I thought though that most mirroring tools don't parse java so why not pass the script to the java virtual machine?
    It's not illigal to write up a new type of wget right?

    So how would you do that?

    Javascript?
    [PHP] | [Perl] | [Python] | [Java] != [JavaScript] | [XML] | [C] | [C++] | [LUA] | [MySQL] | [FirebirdSQL] | [PostgreSQL] | [HTML] | [XHTML] | [CSS]

    Javascript != Java

    This has been posted numerous times everywhere in many forums, But due to the similarities in their names, newbies tend to get confused.

    Java is NOT javascript, though they share lots of similarities. Javascript is a client-side scripting language running at browsers etc, while Java is a full-blown server-side language used to generate web pages/process user requests just the same like CGI programs written in C/C++
    When the programming world turns decent, the real world will turn upside down.

    My mistake I'm talking JavaScript then. So how/can I pass the java virtual machine the JavaScript and get out the URLs?

    You don't need java in a web browser...java script is used as a server-side scripting language..

    • Scorpions4ever disagrees : You have no idea what you're talking about. Ever hear about java applets?

    Your question is hard to understand. Are you talking about when some html with javascript and a java applet are loaded from a server into a browser?
    Where are the URLs you are talking about? Can you give a small example?

    Sorry I lost this post for a while.
    Yes that's exactly what I'm talking about.

    Hears a link.

    Now I really have trouble on this site downloading the sf2s because (if you'd try it you'd understand,) the java script pops up a new window and if you just so happen to hit the download button twice it gives you an error.
    Sure, I could delete all the cookies and stuff from my browser but that's not the point. I'm trying to create a program to automatically download all that stuff for you.
