    Disabling a text input...

    Is it possible to disable a text input without it "greying" out?

    I was thinking maybe a CSS style, but couldn't find anything.

    Maybe something with a mouseover event?

    You can use the :disabled CSS pseudoclass to apply whatever appearance you want.

    Hmmm... It still greyed out when I fooled around with it. I'll keep trying.

    I've decided what I wanted to do is a bad idea, but know I'm kind of interested to figure out how to do it just because.

    It's working for me in Chrome. Try a small test:
    Code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <style type="text/css">
    button:disabled { color: blue; }
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <button type="button">Enabled</button>
    <button type="button" disabled>Disabled</button>
    </body>
    </html>
