    Getting submitted file local path

    Here's the situation:

I'm developing a tool for our intranet that will let users browse through large numbers (batches of 500-1000) of images (times 5 to 10 users with 20 -100 batches of images - basically it needs to accept around 1 million images in total.

These images are already stored on our network drive, and many people take these images at 10MP a peice.

Short story is, I would like users to submit files and then store the "local" path to those files in the DB. I understand that I cannot do this via PHP, but is there a cross-browser way to do this in javascript/jquery? I would prefer to use the native file select dialog and such to do this, since I don't need the actual bits of the file.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Actually you might be able to do it with PHP, as long as the server with PHP on it has access to the network drive, but you definitely can't do it with JavaScript.
