But, when I save that same php3 page as an html doc, the javascript works like a charm.
THe javascript is located in the top of the doc, before any php code is encountered. Ideas?

Scratch that, the javascript & php is fine - the person who wrote the page (me
 ) made a mistake with an include, which bypassed the javascript. It's working as intended now. - Mike
