    javascript window.open

    I would like to remove the menu and toolbars from the browser window in order to get more usable space on the screen without making a KIOSK type setup.

    I have the following code but it wont modify the existing windows properties, is this not even possible?

    Code:
    <body onLoad="window.open('https://192.168.1.10/csbg/index.php', '_self', 'menubar=no,toolbar=no,resizable=yes,status=yes');">
    If I change _self to _blank, or anything else, it works fine. Any ideas?

    _self is a predefined command in HTML.

    _self - the target URL will open in the same frame as it was clicked
    AFAIK you cannot change the existing window properties.
    and why are you tring to change the existing window by opening a pop-up window?

    I couldn't find a way to modify the current window, so I thought making a pop-up window, that uses the current window, and modifying the menubar, location etc that way might work. If you know of, or can point me in the direction of a better way to do this, that would be great.
