I'm currently working on the design patterns for a web app that will be accessing data from a SQL Server 2000 DB and enables my users to modify the data and commit the changes to the DB.

Long story short:

The data is to be displayed through the use of Active Server pages which will retrieve the data from server side COM objects persisted from the Database.

When the user adds/updates data I would like to validate some of the data through client side java script. If the data validations fail, I will use DTHML to identify which data attributes need to be fixed - before the data is sent to the server for actual DB updates, insertions, deletes.

I don't really want to have to instantiate a recordset object on the client side and the aesthetics of form posting to an update asp is not very appealing either.

IE allows you to implement a PageObject component with which you can call methods on server side pages (remote scripting). This is what I want but I am under the impression that I will be limited to using microsoft browsers if I use this method.

Soooo . . .

The question - is there a java script solution that I need to be aware of?

Thanks in advance.
