Question

Hello there
I would like to know if there is anyway possible to use the FileSystemObject to access the local directories of the client who is going to view my jsp page. I have to upload a file from the client side. Please advice if a better way if possible. I cannot use the <input type="FILE" tag as it is specified not to use it

Thank you
Rahul

Could use an applet or an activeX object - but it will only work if the user's security settings allow it...
The <input type=file is the only way (I know of) that you could read the file with a server-side script.

You won't be able to use the FileSystemObject on the client because it violates the security model. And if you can't use the <input type="file" tag, then you might want to look at some commercial ActiveX/Java objects:

JFile/XFile from SoftArtisans

AppletFile from Infomentum
